Niche Marketing: Your Ticket To Online Success

By Dan on May 22, 2011

Niche marketing is all about marketing a product (or a service) to a select group of people. This group of people is known as a niche market. So basically, you are promoting, offering, selling, marketing (whatever you want to call it) a specific product to a specific group of people who are looking for that product.

If no one is looking for that product and/or you can’t or don’t get that niche market product in front of potential customers (or any customers), guess what that means?

I personally don’t like the word “selling”, even though that’s what we’re doing. I have my reasons for this. I don’t like “selling” something to someone and most people don’t like someone trying to “sell” them something. Most people don’t like being “sold to”. I prefer to think of myself as a “promoter” of things that people need and my job is to “offer” my products to them.

What I just wrote above is a very important part of becoming a niche marketing success story. It involves so many other aspects of running an online business that it really should be on an entirely separate blog or in a full report of it’s own. This topic is the art and science of salesmanship.

Promoting, offering, selling, marketing (whatever you want to call it) involves:

1) copywriting

2) salesmanship in print

3) sales letters

4) knowing how to market something to someone without actually “selling” it to them

5) learning why people buy things

6) knowing how to “persuade” people to purchase what you are offering them

7) learning how to “seduce” your prospective customer into doing what you want him or her to do (take action)

8) knowing how to allow your prospect to “think” that they are making the purchase decision on their own

Are you starting to see a little bit more of what’s involved in niche marketing?

If you have a great product to sell but have a terrible sales letter, this is going to hurt your sales.

On the other hand, if you have a fantastic sales letter but a product that nobody or very few people even want, this is going to hurt your sales too.

There’s a fine line here that you’re going to have to tread carfeully on. There’s a lot of learning to do.

There’s a lot of time that you’re going to have to commit to putting into your business.

Are you committed?

To carry all this out successfully, you need to:

1) have a great product to sell

2) know what people are actually searching / looking for

3) know if people are actually buying that product online

4) know how to find these people and get your product in front of them

5) know how to convert these people from lookers/searchers into BUYERS!

I probably left out a few steps but that’s the rough outline for niche marketing.

The short version of all that is this:

“Promote a product to people with credit cards, who are looking for what you are offering.”

How’s that for “short and to the point”?

I will build on and enhance this description in future posts as I think of other aspects of how to become a successful online marketer. But for now, those basics will suffice.

All of those 5 points above could be an entire report in itself but I will do my best to teach you what I know about niche marketing. Also, each of those 5 points above all include more sub-points that are involved in successfully carrying them out.

If this doesn’t sound like too much to handle or learn so far, I hate to tell you but there’s more to this business than I have written above. For example…and I’m honestly not trying to scare you off from this make money online thing…but you will probably need the following things:

1) a domain name

2) a website or a blog

3) a blog or website hosting account

4) a sales letter

5) a way to take online payments

6) a way to deliver the products

7) a product or products to sell

8) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your site

9) Free and/or paid traffic to your site

10) a step-by-step strategy, system or method to follow

Again, each of the above 10 points could be an entire separate blog or report all on it’s own, especially SEO and traffic. I will be writing about them but I don’t know far into them I will go. There’s still more that’s involved but these points are a good place to stop for now. These 23 points will serve as my outline for this blog and where I will go with it.

I will write about all of these points in future articles. Within my future posts I can and will jump into all the little details that are part of the above outline.

I’m not going to sugar-coat this business. I’m not going to tell you how easy it is. I’m not going to tell you that you can and will make a whole bunch of money in a really short period of time. I’m certainly not going to tell you that all you have to do is push a button and you will make money online.  What a crock that is!

I am going to tell you the truth about niche marketing and how to make money online and everything I listed above. But this is mainly a blog on niche marketing, how to find a niche market and niche markets to choose from, how to find a niche product and niche products to choose from, how to find a profitable niche and profitable niches to get into, and much more.

I want to welcome you to the wide, wide world of internet niche marketing, niche markets and how to make money online. Hang on! It’s going to be a wild ride!
